Destination Hermitage

“The Book of Hermits: A History of Hermits from Antiquity to the Present,” by Rodriguez (1921). Peruse the habits of other hermits.

Pick up ”The Midnight Library,” by Matt Haig (2023), because you’re sure to break all bedtime routines when enjoying space without artificial time constraints. Still up reading at midnight? It’s a perfect cap to a day well-spent.

“Gift From the Sea,” by Anne Lindbergh (1955). Clinging to hard-won peace, this book empowers those who thoughtfully reflect.

A blank journal for free writing and setting goals.

Many who stay in a hermitage seek out simplicity in meals, but you may want your favorite foods available. Because you won’t want to leave once you get there, keep your favs close for emergency snacking.

Pack the most meaningful, inspirational book that provides you peaceful strength, personal insight, and hope. Many hermitages are founded in faith, but not all. Please choose what is right for you.

What not to pack: No need for sound canceling headphones, unless you are opposed to hearing singing birds fluttering leaves.

Please allow for more time at these locations than you think is necessary. Enjoying restorative peace is priceless, so maximize your opportunities.
