YOUR STORY, YOUR WORLD
Writing is an art, not a science.
We take ideas and transfer them to others through our expression.
While writing the intangible, it becomes tangible.
What happens in our imagined stories, through writing, becomes experienceable to others.
Our created stories become like unique worlds, separate from reality, but almost as real.
I am at the writing step where I need to present my world (story) to others.
Some people only want to hear the gist of it.
They will get my one- or three-minute pitch.
Others want to know the full, but condensed, story.
I will give these people my story synopsis.
It can be my one-page version or longer.
The entire story will be presented, including the ending, but in paraphrased form.
I thought about the layers in my stories, and how they can be compared to layers in a 3-D object like the sun.
Check out my diagram and see if you find similarities between our own sun and your own stories.
I think you’ll agree, the phrase ‘story depth,’ is more than symbolic as you start creating all the layers of
understanding that go into the worlds you create.
We need never compare ourselves or our writing with others, because stories exist beyond our own galaxies
(perspective), and collectively, are innumerable.
Have a happy writing week!
